Around Reykjavík

Iceland, Reykjavík

Today was a day to tour Reykjavík. Stops included:

  • Hallgrimskirkja – The largest church in Iceland which is visible throughout the city.
  • Perlan – Where hot water is stored then piped to the homes and businesses of Reykjavík. Equipment is expensive here so it is less costly to provide water in this manner. It has a large exhibition space that is now being converted to a Museum of Icelandic Wonders.
  • Bessastaðir – Residence of the President of Iceland. It is in a fairly isolated but beautiful location however there are no guards or guardhouses around it.
  • Höfði House – A house in Reykjavík with an extensive national and international history.
  • The National Museum of Iceland – Contains art and artifacts relevant to the history of Iceland from its settlement through the current day.

Time for a nap before dinner…. Tired…
