As part of our trip prep I obtain currency for the country or countries we are visiting. The arrival of the Euro and the availability of ATMs has reduced the types and amounts I get greatly but I still do it. Not much, just enough to line our pockets a little. The checklist for Sydney’s Nicaragua trip recommended some cash for snacks, etc as well. We have used TravelEx at Stanford Mall for some time now to obtain currency, call in an order and it is ready in a few days. So as usual two weeks prior to departure I called and asked for Icelandic Króna and Nicaraguan Cordoba and after an ‘oh’ I told the Cordoba was a bit exotic and they will see what they can do. A few days later they called back and said my order was ready. When I went to pick it up I was told it was one of their more unusual requests they had received.
Whats In A Name?
Trip PrepTrip blog names are always fun to come up with and this one was rather easy. As we researched the (potential) trip Kim used Directv to show us all the shows related to Iceland coming up and a Travel Channel show Booze Traveler mentioned the Icelandic version of ‘cheers’ was ‘Skál í botn!‘ which translates to ‘Bottoms up!’ in english. Twas that simple.
